“Lighthearted and funny with intelligent insight into what it means to be human. You’ll find offbeat historical references and clever satire on every page.”
Thanks, Jason B!
Party: My friends with Golf Heritage Society are coming to the Tin Lizzy tomorrow at 4 pm. Looking forward to multiple hours of BSing with these great folks. Join us! You don’t need to know anything about golf.
News: Just accepted Point Park University's 4 percent increase in peanut pay to return to teach Media Storytelling to journalism students. Know what that means? My "Buy My Books, Boost Your Grades!" program lives again!
Today’s Theme … “Beginnings”
• I woke up today again wondering if the Constitution for Concord grapes begins, "We the purple …"
• Which unnecessary innovation will come first: A toaster that can make phone calls or a phone that can make toast?
• The concept may sound difficult to grasp, but there once was a time before anyone, anywhere had ever pointed out there's a first time for everything.
• I’m beginning to understand the peacefulness that comes from no longer trying to change the minds of the mindless.
• I’d like to know the first words of souls arriving in Hell when their last words on Earth were, "Goodbye cruel world!”
• I’m convinced the first thing to go is the inability to resist saying, "The first thing to go . . .”
• Life for people who prefer vinyl records doesn't begin 'til 33 and a 1/3.
• I’ve never experienced love at first sight, but 5 or 6 times a day I'll catch the eye of some total stranger and know -- just know -- we're destined to become drinking buddies.
• Close your eyes and turn the mirror into your friend. Too many people, women especially, stare into the mirror and do nothing but catalogue flaws. Try this: when you're done tidying up, spend the last 15 seconds staring into the mirror -- with your eyes closed. Imagine you're seeing yourself through the eyes of all your best friends. Instead of noting microscopic flaws you'll begin your day with thoughts of all it is about you that people love best.
• The outcome of your days will begin to make more sense when you realize that things like happiness and sadness aren’t emotions. They’re mindsets. Today I’m setting my mind to “Procrastinate.”
Random randoms …
• Those who rest assured digital will replace print can take heart that when we see the writing on the wall it's still writing on the wall.
• When you break it all down, life is about deciding if you'd rather walk in someone else's shoes or seize them by their throats. Most bowlers choose the former.
• Last night, it almost happened. My self-betrayal was nearly complete. I almost used the word "amazeballs" in a sentence.
• Otherwise great Chincoteague beach vacation marred only by incident initiated when kids asked if they could bury me in sand. Sure. I'm game. But when they had me completely immobilized, the little bastards stole my shoes & wallet. I should've known better. They weren't my kids.
