Today’s theme: The Three Stooges
Colorful Living Tip of the Day …
Try and think how different rock and comedy histories be if instead of John of The Beatles, Yoko had fallen for Moe of The Stooges. Imagine.
“Last Baby Boomer” Review of the Week!
“I really can't say enough good things about this book. The premise — that a contest has been initiated to see who stands next to Martin McCrae, the Last Baby Boomer, when he expires. It’s wonderfully weird and unexpected, and also infused with both satirical hilarity and some broader truths about an entire generation. Rodell is capable of switching from ribald joke telling to pithy pathos often from paragraph to paragraph. I literally laughed out loud and discovered tears welling up in my eyes at various points in the first 50 pages. It's really an incredible work of artistic humor writing. Can't recommend it enough.”

Stooge! Stooge! Stooge!
• Colorful Fun Fact: Through 220 shot films over three decades, “The Three Stooges” never once did a fart joke. Know what that means? The Stooges were a class act.
• If you learn anything from watching “The Three Stooges,” it is to never say, “Here! Take mine!” whenever Moe asks for a hammer.
• Propose an investigation to determine if in the Three Stooges scripts when it called for Curly to laugh screenwriters actually spelled it out, "Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.”
• Eating regular Oreos rather than Double Stuf Oreos is as pointless for people who want to be colorful as opting to watch movies featuring The Two Stooges.
• A mohawk is an unconventional hairstyle. A Moe Hawk is an irrationally angry bird that inflicts cartoon violence on a Curly Hawk.
• If they were made today, each of the comedy shorts would have disclaimer, "No Stooges were hurt in the making of this film."

• I remain naive in the ways of high finance, but aren't most trust funds really don't-trust funds?
• I for years referred to myself as a struggling writer. I now realize that's wrong. Writing's never been a struggle. What am I? I'm a struggling earner. I'm sure many of you can relate.
Zeitgust Word of the Week (a word I made up with the goal of getting it into an actual dictionary) …
Sortagree: How the majority of rational fence-sitting Americans feel if they’re asked to decide “Agree” or “Disagree” on any divisive issue.
Now & Then …
Now: Courtney Love rips new Pam Anderson flick
Then: I was in rehab with Courtney Love in ‘96
I still think of Courtney Love any time I’m doing a puzzle. I was doing one when we met. It was July 1996 and I tell the story now because I’m pretty sure the statute of limitations for my crimes that day have expired. She’d been ordered to seek help there by producers of “The People vs. Larry Flynt.” She was addicted to heroin and her drug-addled antics were disrupting the film. I’d been ordered there because I was at the time freelancing for National Enquirer and I was the nearest reliable nut-job who had a chance of getting the story.
Concluding words …
• The Stooges are to comedy what porn is to drama: it's still satisfying even when the plot's a little thin.
